Spring is finally here! Something most of those who live in cold winter months have been looking forward to, especially this year. It has been a very difficult winter, with all the snow and being isolated inside. I was feeling depressed and lethargic often, even if I exercised inside and ate my greens. Can you relate at all? I think being able to have fresh air is so important for our bodies and our minds. Getting oxygen into our lungs and being outdoors in the sunshine helps us get energy and improves our mood. Think of a big tall tree, who has hibernated in the winter, with no leaves on it. The tree waits for the spring to start budding it’s leaves, then rain comes to help it grow, then the sunshine brings the leaves chlorophyll to produce green leaves and energy. Our bodies are similar. Besides getting oxygen by being outdoors, we also need chlorophyll for lasting energy. Yes, that means to eat your greens! Dark leafy greens are the most abundant source of chlorophyll for our bodies. Push yourself to go outside daily (weather permitting) and by incorporating more greens into your daily diet, as well. You will notice the difference almost immediately!
While you are outside take a hike, ride your bike, run, play catch, play tennis and anything else you enjoy that get’s you moving again.
Now get going, don’t think about it for too long, spring into action today!
