    Now that it is finally Spring, I am sure those of you who have gained weight during
    Covid 19 (aka, “Quarantine 19”) are wanting to shed those pounds for the summer.

    Instead of going on a “diet” where you deprive yourself of a certain food group or
    deprive yourself of the one thing you so love and can’t give up, there is hope! I
    believe that the best and most lasting way to lose weight is by eating whole foods
    and without deprivation. If you want a small snack, such as a cookie, or piece of good
    quality chocolate, go for it! Then, right away, get back on track.

     

    Here are my top 5 tips to losing weight naturally

     

    1. The focus of losing weight is actually shifted to gaining energy & feeling vibrant!.

    If you focus on losing weight, you might end up actually not shedding pounds due to the stress of it all.  Instead focus on gaining more energy and feeling vibrant.  Doing so, will make a big difference in your daily life.

     

    2.  Drink a minimum of 8 cups of purified water from a good quality filter – if you really want to lose weight properly, it is key to keep adding more water each week.

    Figure this – our bodies are made up of 2/3 water, so when we drink too little, (even 8 cups can be,) we are then considered dehydrated!!

    Here is the formula : Drink ½ your weight in ounces.

    If you weigh 150 pounds = 75 ounces per day

    If you weigh 175 pounds = 87.5 ounces per day

    If you weigh 200 pounds = 100 ounces per day

     

    While it might seem quite a lot and difficult to do, if you start from where you are And work your way up,  you will notice the pounds start coming off!  It is the easiest, yet the hardest thing to do.  Don’t think so much about it, get started now!  Add squeezed fresh lemon, lime, cucumber, mint, etc. to help you enhance the taste and drink more water!

     

    3.  Get enough sleep – Try getting a minimum of 7 -8 hours each night.  When you don’t sleep well are you craving caffeine, sugar and unhealthy food, just to keep you going?

     

    4. Exercise daily.  You don’t have to be a gym buff.  Pick something you enjoy or think you might like to do.  It could be running, walking, biking, swimming, hula hooping, dancing, yoga, etc.  The idea is to move your body at least 30 minutes per day.  Get up from the couch and exercise!  You can even break it up in 10 minute spurts – 3x per day, whatever works! The more you burn, the better the weight loss and more energized you will feel!

     

    5. Eat more vegetables and fiber than ever before. This is not just for weight loss, but for your life! Choose a variety of fresh colorful vegetables and you will add vitamins, minerals and fiber to your daily diet, and you will notice the benefits right away!  Continue for life, and you will live a lot longer.  The benefits are enormous!
