With the scare of having a hurricane in the East Coast today, things turned around to be no higher than a tropical storm, thankfully.
Today was a great day to take care of the things in your home and just relax. Instead of the constant rush day in and day out, it becomes a “catch up” day. What things were you able to catch up with?
I was able to straighten some parts of my house and organize my kitchen a bit more. I also watched some old tv favorites since I was a child, like the “Love Boat, Gilligan’s Island, etc. Great memories and so relaxing!
I also did some rebounding and yoga. It felt good to stretch my body again. Lately, I’ve been noticing that since I have not lifted weights consistently or at a gym, my neck/shoulder has been very tight for a few months. Being busy, is really no excuse, but that’s what I have been doing unconsciously. So now, I work on stretching, especially the tightest areas of my body at least 2x per day! Yes, as we get older, our bodies tend to shorten. We need to stretch to help our bodies lengthen once again. It only takes 3-5 minutes, once or twice per day, and the results will be found in a few days/weeks depending on the area. I would say, if you are 50 or over, to make it a point to stretch 1-2x per day, so you can walk, bend, stand, lift, etc. as time goes on. Focus on this so that your daily activities don’t become difficult. If you are not sure what stretches or exercises to do, check out my book on Amazon here. You can look at some of the pages there for reference. I do have a section of the book including pictures and explanations on exercising and stretching in a simple, easy-to-do manner. The key is to be consistent. The simplest exercises/stretches do at least 1x per week, then add a bit more difficult ones over time, working up to 3 to 5 x per week. The more consistent you are, the better you will feel! I highly recommend you do stretches during commercial breaks.
Have fun, relax & enjoy the process!
