Wherever you are at in your life is perfectly fine. Don’t beat yourself up by saying over and over again, I am fat, overweight, not good enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough, etc. It’s important to accept yourself for where you are at in your life, totally now!
I know it is easier said then done, so here are some tips to get started:
- Look in the mirror, either clothed or unclothed, (preferably first thing in am upon waking or just before bed) and say out loud, “I am good enough, just the way I am!”I am a beautiful being meant to be here on this earth and present my gifts, talents & contributions to all who I know and touch in my life. Then hug yourself and appreciate yourself where you are now and what you truly accomplished in life so far.
- Now, get dressed and smile in the mirror and get a piece of paper and pen. Write down a list of what positive things you have accomplished in your life so far. Just let the pen flow, don’t think to hard. Just write. Save this list in a book, diary, etc. to look back to when having a bad day, or are stressed and feeling undesirable, etc.
- Also, on a piece of paper or in a diary, jot down your short term goals. Have at least 3 of them. Make sure one of the goals includes your health and well-being. Do you want to learn how to cook healthier, eat better, have more energy, lose weight, be stronger, more fit, happier, in better relationships, etc. Write down whatever comes to mind as a short term goal.
- Break down short term goals into small chunks. If say your goal is to have more energy and not eating optimally, then jot down as a short term goal, to buy more fruits/veggies and add to your meals once or twice a week to start. That might mean trying new ones and being adventurous!
- After you try one short term goal, notice how you feel and jot down in your journal. If it motivated you and you start to feel a little bit better, go to your second goal. If it didn’t motivate you or you didn’t follow thru, ask what is getting in my way? What obstacles am I putting up to stop me from reaching my goal? Keep on your first goal until you accomplish it or make it a bit simpler if too difficult.
Having faith and determination will help you accomplish your goals in small easy-to-do tasks. Keep positive and keep reaching your goals!
